Local-first AI development

Build beyond the prompt.

APZX IDE turns intent into working software with real repository tools, model freedom, local intelligence, and verification built into the loop.

One workspace. Four ways to think.

From first question to verified change.

Choose the level of agency each task needs. APZX keeps repository context, model selection, activity, and evidence together.

01 / AGENT

Build directly in context.

Inspect the project, edit focused files, run bounded commands, and keep the evidence attached to the task.

  • Repository-aware implementation
  • Visible file and command activity
  • Stop, retry, and edit-and-retry
Understand

Read the request and only the context needed.

Implement

Make focused changes inside the trusted project.

Verify

Run the checks the repository actually provides.

Report

Return changed files, results, and limitations.

Model freedom without fiction.

Connect what you use. See what is real.

Every provider profile keeps its own endpoint, encrypted credential, discovered models, fallbacks, enabled state, and health. APZX only presents models returned by the provider or deliberately configured for a custom gateway.

Your local runtime, made legible.

Browse local models with the truth attached.

Search recommendations by task, compare capability and size, and keep runtime-reported installation state separate from what is simply available to download.

A deliberate trust boundary.

Desktop power, tightly contained.

Security is part of the product architecture: isolated UI, narrow privileged bridges, validated operations, and hardened releases.

APZX runtime signal map
RUNTIME SIGNAL MAPContext → bridge → model → verification → release

Each stage keeps its own evidence boundary, so a finished task can be inspected instead of trusted as a black box.

UI

Sandboxed renderer

Context isolation stays enabled and Node integration stays disabled in the interface.

IPC

Validated bridge

Typed payload checks keep privileged file, model, and system operations in Electron main.

KEY

Protected credentials

Provider secrets use operating-system encryption and stay out of projects and diagnostics.

EXE

Hardened release

ASAR packaging, integrity validation, security fuses, notices, and checksums ship together.

Plan the right local setup.

Right-size APZX for your workload.

APZX IDE runs on Windows without a dedicated GPU. Local model speed and capacity depend on the model, quantization, context, available memory, and the Ollama runtime.

Operating systemWindows 10 or 11 x64
Local AI runtimeOllama, installed separately
StorageApp + model files + working headroom
GraphicsGPU optional
Memory planning guideChoose for the whole workload, not one number
Entry8 GB RAM

Cloud-provider work and lighter local models. Keep other memory-heavy applications limited during local inference.

More headroom24+ GB RAM

Better suited to larger contexts, heavier local models, or concurrent development tools.

GPU and VRAMAcceleration is optional

Useful VRAM depends on the chosen model, quantization, context size, and how Ollama places the workload. CPU execution remains available when supported by the runtime.

Storage planningLeave room beyond the download

Model download sizes are estimates. Reserve space for the application, models, temporary data, projects, and future updates.

Runtime truth wins. Recommendations are advisory; installed and loaded state comes only from Ollama. Read the detailed requirements →
